The completion of framework of this mansion was back in 1894.
Go into a fine main gate.
And you see a storehouse inside the residence.
Here is the entrance.

It has a beautiful garden too.
This mansion was designed as the traditional Japanese samurai residence.
This is two-storied residence facing Hashimoto river.
The style of two-storied residence facing the river was used for other famous historical mansions around here.
People of former days loved to look over the window and to enjoy this beautiful view along the river.
This is the entrance of tea-ceremony room.
After coming back to Hagi,
Watanabe devoted himself to maintaining Shoukason-jukum where he used to learn at,
while he always enjoyed tea-ceremony here.
Watanabe lived the longest out of all the students at Shokason-juku.
In this mansion, they exhibit the history of Shokason-juku,
pictures taken while he was learning abroad and while he was working for Nagasaki Dockyard.
They also have a precious group picture that he took with Taro Katsura and other people who were associated with.
